At SmartBookDeal.com, we want checkout to be simple and secure. Below is everything you need to know about how you can pay for your order, what to expect after payment, and how we handle billing.

Accepted Payment Methods

We accept the following payment methods at checkout:

Visa Mastercard American Express Discover PayPal Shop Pay Afterpay

All payments are processed in US Dollars (USD).

Credit and Debit Cards

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover credit and debit cards. Your card is charged at the time you place your order. We do not store your full card number, CVV, or any sensitive payment details on our servers. All card transactions are processed through secure, PCI-compliant payment processors.

If you are using a card issued outside the United States, your bank may charge a currency conversion fee since all our transactions are processed in USD. This fee is determined by your bank or card issuer and is not something we control or charge.

PayPal

You can pay using your PayPal account at checkout. When you choose PayPal, you will be redirected to PayPal's website to complete your payment. Once payment is confirmed, you will be brought back to our site with your order confirmed. PayPal handles your payment data under their own privacy and security policies. Shop Pay

Shop Pay is an accelerated checkout option powered by Shopify. If you have a Shop Pay account, you can use your saved payment and shipping details to check out faster. Shop Pay handles your data under Shopify's privacy policy, which you can review at https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy.

Afterpay

Afterpay lets you split your purchase into four interest-free payments, paid every two weeks. There is no extra cost to you as long as payments are made on time. Afterpay has its own approval process and terms. When you select Afterpay at checkout, you will be redirected to their platform to complete the setup. Late fees may apply if you miss a payment — that is between you and Afterpay.

Order Confirmation

After your payment goes through successfully, you will receive an order confirmation email with your order number, a summary of what you purchased, and the total amount charged. If you do not receive a confirmation email within a few minutes of placing your order, check your spam or junk folder. If it is not there, contact us with the details of your order and we will look into it for you.

When Is My Card Charged?

Your payment method is charged at the time you place your order.

Some banks may place a temporary pre-authorization hold on your card when you start the checkout process. This hold may appear as a pending charge on your account and can sometimes look slightly different from the final order amount. This is normal. The hold will either convert to the final charge or be released by your bank, usually within a few business days. We do not control how long your bank takes to release a hold.

How the Charge Appears on Your Statement

The charge on your bank or credit card statement may appear as Smart Book Deal, SmartBookDeal.com, or in some cases Shopify. The exact name depends on your payment method and how your bank or card issuer displays transactions. If you see a charge from any of these names that matches your order total, that is your order.

If you see a charge you do not recognize, check your order confirmation email first. If it still does not match, contact us at support@smartbookdeal.com and we will help you figure it out.

Duplicate Charges

If your browser refreshed during checkout or you accidentally clicked the pay button more than once, you may see what looks like a duplicate charge. In most cases, the extra charge is a temporary hold that your bank will release on its own within a few business days. If a genuine duplicate charge goes through, contact us and we will identify it and issue a refund for the extra amount.

Failed or Declined Payments

If your payment is declined at checkout, please check the following before trying again. Make sure your card number, expiration date, and CVV are entered correctly. Confirm that your billing address matches the address on file with your bank or card issuer. Check that your card has not expired and has sufficient funds. Contact your bank or card issuer if the problem continues, as some banks block online transactions by default and may need you to authorize the purchase.

Payment Security

Your security matters to us. Here is how we keep your payment information safe.

Our website uses SSL encryption to protect all data transmitted between your browser and our servers. You can verify this by checking for the padlock icon and "https" in your browser's address bar.

All payment transactions are handled by trusted, PCI-compliant third-party payment processors. PCI compliance means these processors meet strict industry standards for handling card data securely.

We never see, store, or have access to your full credit card number, CVV, or bank account details. Payment data goes directly to the payment processor — not through us.

Pricing and Currency

All prices displayed on our website are in US Dollars (USD). The price shown on the product page is the price you pay. There are no hidden fees, service charges, or additional costs added at checkout.

Shipping is free on all orders. No shipping fee will be added to your total at any point during checkout.

Taxes

Applicable sales tax is calculated automatically at checkout based on your shipping address and the tax laws of your state. Not all states charge sales tax, so depending on where you live, you may or may not see a tax amount at checkout.

The tax amount, if any, will be clearly shown in your order summary before you confirm your purchase. Tax is included in the checkout total. You will not be charged any additional tax after placing your order. The amount you see at final checkout is the complete amount you will pay.

Cancelled Orders

If you need to cancel an order and it has not been shipped yet, we will cancel it and issue a full refund. For credit and debit card payments, the refund is typically processed within 3–5 business days, but it may take a few additional days for your bank to release the funds back to your account. For PayPal payments, the refund will be returned to your PayPal account. For Shop Pay payments, the refund follows the same process as a card refund.

If the cancellation happens before your payment has fully settled, the pending charge on your account will simply be released by your bank. You will not be charged.

Refunds

All refunds are issued to the original payment method used at checkout. If you paid with a credit card, the refund goes back to that card. If you paid through PayPal, the refund goes back to your PayPal account. If you paid through Shop Pay, the refund goes back to the card or account linked to your Shop Pay.

If you paid through Afterpay, the refund will be applied to your Afterpay payment plan. If you have already made one or more installment payments, Afterpay will adjust your remaining balance and refund any overpayment back to you directly. The refund process is managed by Afterpay on their end, so the timing may depend on their processing schedule.

Refunds are processed within 7 business days after we receive and inspect your returned item. It may take a few additional business days for the amount to appear in your account depending on your bank or payment provider.

Gift Cards and Discount Codes

If we offer gift cards or discount codes, you can apply them at checkout in the designated field. Only one discount code can be used per order unless stated otherwise. Gift cards and discount codes cannot be exchanged for cash.

No Hidden Costs

What you see is what you pay. The total shown at checkout includes the product price and any applicable tax. Shipping is always free. There are no handling fees, processing fees, or surprise charges after you place your order. The final amount at checkout is the complete total. Nothing more will be charged to your account after that.
